The Graduate Program in Nuclear Sciences and Techniques is among the oldest programs in Brazil in Nuclear Engineering area. Our program is graded 5, on a scale of 3 to 7, by CAPES, Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, the Brazilian´s government agency responsible for evaluating graduate school. We offer structure and adequate resources for the training of qualified personnel for the exercise of technical and professional activities, education and scientific and technological research in areas related to nuclear science and techniques, nuclear energy and its applications, and energy planning.
In the graduate program, students can pursue Master’s and Ph.D. degrees. Master of Science degree in Sciences and Nuclear Techniques aims to give professional and academic knowledge in the area. Students are prepared to perform research in the area, revealing subject and employed scientific methodology domain. The objective of the doctoral program is to develop the capacity and the ability to conduct original and independent research.
The Graduate Program in Nuclear Sciences and Techniques, through the Department of Nuclear Engineering, offers the following laboratories and special rooms:
- Radiological Protection Laboratory
- Nuclear Instrumentation Laboratory
- Radiochemistry Laboratory
- Applied Electronics Laboratory
- Mechanical workshop
- Multimedia Room
For each research line, several kinds of computer codes are available to assist in the development of modeling by analysis, simulations and calculations.
Our graduate program, through the Department of Nuclear Engineering, participates in various agreements with national and international institutions, and research projects supported by governmental agencies such as CAPES, CNPq, FINEP, FAPEMIG, Eletronuclear and CNEN.
